John Deere is the brand name of Deere & Company, an American corporation that manufactures agricultural, construction, and forestry machinery, diesel engines, drivetrains (axles, transmissions, gearboxes) used in heavy equipment, and lawn care equipment. In 2019, it was listed as 87th in the Fortune 500 America's ranking and was ranked 329th in the global ranking. The company also provides financial services and other related activities.

An anonymous John Deere's current employee says that [the company] "Cares more about profits than people" on a review posted on the website "Glassdoor" on August 14, 2020:

"I have been working at John Deere full-time for more than 8 years Cons: Cutting a lot of jobs for automation and digitization, even during a pandemic. The new CEO is focused more on profits than people, always pushing more out of employees, but they don't pay you more money. A lot of favoritism by managers, and really hard for women to advance. Not very many women in senior leadership or higher-paying jobs. Advice to Management: Focus on the employees and they will work harder for you. Acknowledge the lack of Diversity and do more about it."

"restructuring of company has resulted in hundreds of people leaving the company voluntarily. Hundreds more will be fired under the guise of "smart industrial". When in reality, it's about trying to reduce cost, move more towards contingent employment, offshoring jobs, and line the pockets of shareholders. I would NOT recommend working here. Never felt valued. The company has had awful engagement/employee satisfaction results in the past few years; but leadership somehow can't imagine how to implement any solutions. They also redesigned their entire bonus structure. We used to get amazing bonuses, but starting this year we have nearly impossible goals that we need to meet to get benefits. We're continuing to be told we're in one of the most profitable years, but they're slashing benefits, firing employees, and overall treating employees like numbers. The money is just going to shareholders. If you don't care how you're treated, work here. If you'd like to be a human, treated with respect, find another company."

"- Leadership at the director level is lost - Lots of micromanagement from directors - Constant reorgs are the norm - Getting anything significant done takes significantly longer than it would at a real tech company - Because it is impossible to get fired there is no shortage of disruptive individuals - Lots of gossiping and backstabbing even at the director level - Communication between departments is non-existent - Very stingy with money resulting in not having the best hardware/software or company events unless you work outside the USA - IT is a joke can take months to get software and hardware you need to do your job - IT Security is extremely strict which also limits software options as well as eating up resources on your machine for real-time virus scanning - While still an industry leader Deere no longer innovates, instead they take a reactive approach - No consistency in year end reviews every manager follows their own criteria resulting in confusion and frustration"

"This was a horrible place to work. Owners have no clue how to treat people and fire people all the time for no reason. I worked with a guy who had been there for almost 30 years he never missed work, he was never late and he did good work and they fired him a week before Christmas. I have never seen more people come and go anywhere I have worked but this place was the worst. Owners have no clue how to treat employees and fire people all the time thinking that will fix all of their problems. Management will throw people under the bus all the time. I was told it was ok for me to take 3 days off 6 months after I started to go to Georgia but that was a lie and it was used against me at a later review. All the guys in the shop get an hour long lunch but I was told I could only have 30 minutes and there are NO breaks at all. I was told they looked down on the people who tried taking a breaknothingOwners, management, liars and phonies"
